The importance of early literacy

It is so important to start reading to your kids from the moment that they are born.  Only 15 minutes a day can help build their vocabulary as well as other life long skills.  I think that the most important part of developing the love of reading in your child is to make it fun and interesting.  For example,  if you read If you Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff, why don’t you make a batch of cookies.  This will tie into the book as well as make literacy fun because you will read the recipe together and get a plate of cookies as a treat.
